Our team consists of a group of volunteers responsible for all the managerial and administrative functions of the Charity.

John Michael Brown

Trustee and Founder

After a lengthy career in the chemical industry, John decided in his so called “retirement” to focus on the charitable world. He has been active in many charities but from 1999 his passion has been in Nepal supporting bright deprived students through St Xavier’s School and some into further education and university. John has visited Nepal many times and has a strong relationship with the School having seen it grow from 65 boys only to a boys and girls school of around 1300 students.

John continued to run the Charity actively until 2017 and had the strong support of his late wife, Diana. He is delighted that his daughter and granddaughter, Louise and Anna are now running the Charity with the support of a strong Trustee team.

Having experienced life as a St Xavier’s student on her first visit to Nepal in 2008, Anna has been a keen Ambassador for the Charity for some years. Now, as a trustee, she advises on JMB Educational Fund communications alongside working for an International Digital Marketing company, having completed her International Economics and Geography degree at the University of Leeds.

Louise Wirth

Louise joined the Trustee Board in 2015 having visited St Xavier’s School in 2008 and 2013. She manages the day to day business of the charity. She is responsible for much of the finance, marketing and communication for the Charity. She has been a teacher for a number of years and was involved in her family engineering business for over 15 years.

Diane Hickey

Diane joined the Charity Trustee Board in August 2015. After more than 30 years in Retail Banking, Diane took early retirement, in order to travel, and pursue other interests. She has enjoyed volunteering in local schools several times a year, helping with Finance “games” for 15-year olds (Year 10), to teach them how a business functions. Diane also runs a small Charitable Foundation for a disabled friend.

June joined the Charity Trustee Board in October 2017 having had a professional career the banking industry as a risk, finance and project manager. She also has an accounting background being a qualified Chartered Accountant (England & Wales). Her specific responsibilities in the Charity includes an oversight of finance and fundraising activities.

Russell Inman

Russ joined the Charity Trustee Board in August 2015 having initially got involved with JMB as a sponsor three years prior to that. He has been out to Nepal mountaineering on three separate occasions and it was his experiences in Nepal which prompted him to get involved with the Charity.

As a Trustee, in addition to the broader aspects of the role, he provides a focus on governance and IT.

Fiona Williams

Fiona joined the Trustee Board in 2015 having visited St Xavier’s School (Godavari, Nepal) in 2011 and 2013, and subsequently in 2016. With a background in business communication, event & project management, she focused on the charity’s compliance requirements and fundraising areas. Fiona has held many voluntary positions within schools and charitable organisations many of which have involved fundraising and raising awareness. We are delighted that Fiona continues to support the charity and and take on an Ambassador role in the family charity.

Pragya Karki

Pragya is a former sponsored student of the JMB Educational Fund. Having completed her primary and secondary education at St Xavier’s Godavari, she then obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Social Work from St Xavier’s Maitighar. Pragya worked as a social work trainee in different organizations and is now an administrative assistant for the A Level Programme at The British College at the same time she is also undertaking a Master’s program at Patan Multiple Campus and is majoring in English.

 

Ben Wirth

Ben visited Nepal in 2008, along with Trustees Louise, Anna and John. After completing four years at the University of Bristol and attaining a Masters in Aerospace Engineering degree, he now works as a Senior Aerodynamics Engineer for a sustainability and energy saving research company. Whilst at school, Ben requested that JMB Educational Fund be used as recipients for a charity fundraising day which included giving a speech to the school regarding the background and mission of the charity. Ben has also volunteered for a local triathlon group, teaching children safety skills on the bike as well as other training techniques.
