Pratigya, pictured below in 2016 whilst a further education student, is now 26 years old. Pratigya was sponsored by the JMB Educational Fund from the age of five whilst at St Xavier’s, Godavari and then through her years of further education study at St Xavier’s College, Jawalakhel, in Kathmandu. She has always been a conscientious student, and to see her progress has been a real pleasure.  We recently heard some exciting news, and with Pratigya’s permission we’d like to share a recent email she sent…..

Well, I have news. I’ve been thinking of writing to you for so long. I got caught up and I’m finally sitting here writing to you.

I have come to the USA to get my masters degree in computer science. I landed a scholarship from University of New Haven in Connecticut. I worked for about a year in Nepal beforehand and I got this opportunity so I thought I should take it. Take some time to study, live all by myself, take responsibility for my own life, see the world. So far, I’m loving it. I got done with my first semester.
No matter what my goals are and no matter where I go, what the charity did for me, support me throughout these years, I’d like to do that for someone someday. The humble beginnings always remind me to be kind and I cannot express how thankful it makes me feel that you showed up to help me when I needed it the most. No matter what I do, this is always in the back of my mind. I hope I’ll be able to support someone like your charity has supported me. I could’ve never come this far if not for your help.
Thank you so much for believing in me, for reminding me to be kind to myself.
Pratigya
