The People behind JMB
Our team consists of a group of volunteers responsible for all the managerial and administrative functions of the Charity.
John Michael Brown
Trustee and Founder
After a lengthy career in the chemical industry, John decided in his so called “retirement” to focus on the charitable world. He has been active in many charities but from 1999 his passion has been in Nepal supporting bright deprived students through St Xavier’s School and some into further education and university. John has visited Nepal many times and has a strong relationship with the School having seen it grow from 65 boys only to a boys and girls school of around 1300 students.
John continued to run the Charity actively until 2017 and had the strong support of his late wife, Diana. He is delighted that his daughter and granddaughter, Louise and Anna are now running the Charity with the support of a strong Trustee team.
Having experienced life as a St Xavier’s student on her first visit to Nepal in 2008, Anna has been a keen Ambassador for the Charity for some years. Now, as a trustee, she advises on JMB Educational Fund communications alongside working on the International marketing team for Apple, having completed her International Economics and Geography degree at the University of Leeds.
Louise joined the Trustee Board in 2015 having visited St Xavier’s School in 2008 and 2013. She manages the day to day business of the charity. She is responsible for much of the finance, marketing and communication for the Charity. She has been a teacher for a number of years and was involved in her family engineering business for over 15 years.
Diane joined the Charity Trustee Board in August 2015. After more than 30 years in Retail Banking, Diane took early retirement, in order to travel, and pursue other interests. She has enjoyed volunteering in local schools several times a year, helping with Finance “games” for 15-year olds (Year 10), to teach them how a business functions. Diane also runs a small Charitable Foundation for a disabled friend.
June joined the Charity Trustee Board in October 2017 having had a professional career the banking industry as a risk, finance and project manager. She also has an accounting background being a qualified Chartered Accountant (England & Wales). Her specific responsibilities in the Charity includes an oversight of finance and fundraising activities.
Russ joined the Charity Trustee Board in August 2015 having initially got involved with JMB as a sponsor three years prior to that. He has been out to Nepal mountaineering on three separate occasions and it was his experiences in Nepal which prompted him to get involved with the Charity.
As a Trustee, in addition to the broader aspects of the role, he provides a focus on governance and IT.
Russ is a Chartered Engineer working in the broadcasting industry. His interests are mountaineering, cycling and aviation.
Fiona joined the Trustee Board in 2015 having visited St Xavier’s School (Godavari, Nepal) in 2011 and 2013, and subsequently in 2016. With a background in business communication, event & project management, she focused on the charity’s compliance requirements and fundraising areas. Fiona has held many voluntary positions within schools and charitable organisations many of which have involved fundraising and raising awareness. We are delighted that Fiona continues to support the charity and and take on an Ambassador role to the family charity.
